IKAT / iCAT Features: The iKAT uses Special Burn Technology to electrically alter the shape, speed and profile of the spark in a petrol or gas engine. The traditional three phases observed in normal spark ignition are fuel mix breakdown, arc and glow discharge phases.
Utilising the iKAT's Superior Burn Technology, SBT, establishes changes including a marginal faster pulse of positive ions, which set up a column of plasma between the negative and positive spark plug terminals, thus initiating exothermic fuel reactions during the ignition stage of the engine's combustion cycle. The spark rapidly developes a robust and sustained secondary discharge of negative current which creates an avalanche of electrons which energizes a fast ionisation wave streaming away from the discharge electrode and as a result more energy is transferred to the fuel/air mix.
